African Energy Market

African Energy Market and Investments

The African continent is a region that hosts many energy-based reserve resources. Africa, which is a region with extremely rich reserves in terms of oil, natural gas, and similar thermal resources, is also suitable for electricity production based on wind and solar energy. African peoples, who have lived independently for the last 50-60 years due to centuries of independence struggles, are making investments that will improve their countries and societies. One of these investments is energy investments because there is still a serious crisis of poverty and drought in Africa. To prevent this and provide energy to every citizen, many domestic and foreign initiatives are implemented in energy investments.

While electricity use in most African countries is realized by 10% of the country in general, electricity use in some capitals has only reached 40%. The most important issue for the development of the energy market in Africa is the dissemination of energy-oriented systems and the creation of technical infrastructure and staff in the country. African countries, which are deficient in these issues, still cannot take an active role in the energy sector.

Due to the negative situations mentioned above, investments in the African energy market are at a very low level. For this reason, various energy initiatives have been initiated in African countries and energy investments have been made in foreign countries. One of the countries where African countries make energy investments is the Republic of Turkey. The reason for Turkey to receive such an investment is that, unlike European countries, great energy breakthroughs have been achieved in a short time and the interest in the renewable energy sector is high. Therefore, African countries closely follow Turkey's energy investments and sometimes invest in the energy sector in Turkey. In response to this, some Turkish entrepreneurs make energy investments in African countries and produce many energies, especially electricity, in Africa.

The energy events, which act as a bridge between the African energy market and the Turkish energy market, bring together the investors of the two countries and the producers and ensure growth together in the energy sector. In this context, the two parties meet and hold investment talks at the EIF World Energy Congress and Fair, the biggest energy event organized in Turkey.

Meeting Point of African and Turkish Investors

EIF World Energy Congress and Fair is one of the largest and most comprehensive energy events in Turkey and Europe. In this event, investors from all over the world and Turkish energy producers come together and various meetings are held.. In this direction, many investors, investment delegations and purchasing delegations from African countries visit EIF World Energy Congress and Fair. African investors participating in this event generally hold meetings and make investments in solar and wind energy fields that can be produced in their own countries. Therefore, it can be said that African investors invest more in renewable energy sources.

EIF World Energy Congress and Fair, which will be held for the 15th time this year, will meet with visitors at IFM Istanbul Expo Center. The event, which will be open to visitors for three days on 12-14 October 2022, is organized with the support of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey.
