Seven Radiation Sensor – Modbus RTU Output

Irradiance Sensor With Modbus RTU Output It's a Sensor Box for Solar PV Plants having a Modbus RTU Output. Besides Irradiance Sensor, it includes also an Internal Cell Temperature Sensor.It is compatible with all Modbus RTU Dataloggers. It is supplied along with Mounting Bracket and Cable. Solar irradiance is the power per unit area received from the sun and measured by the PV pyranometer, i.e. the irradiance sensor, as electromagnetic radiation in Watt per square meter (W/m²). WORKING PRINCIPLES This sensor consists of a solar cell made of monocrystalline silicon, which is activated by light and produces an electric current that is converted into millivolts (mV) thanks to the connected shunt resistor on its back side. A temperature sensor is located at the back of the cell to measure the temperature of the cell which causes a small deflection of the current. The temperature increases in inverse proportion to the current production of the cell. The monocrystalline cell and the temperature sensor are connected to an electronic card, which is designed to calculate the temperature compensated solar irradiance value in W/m². Thanks to the design of this card, it is possible to connect up to 7 different sensors and provides an RS485 port for data transfer in Modbus RTU protocol. SEVEN provides SunSpec compliance for the necessary devices, too. CONSTRUCTION FEATURES Monocrystalline Cell: The cell is laminated with 2 EVA sheets, one Tedlar sheet and 3mm tempered glass under 180 °C homogeneous temperature and under vacuum effect. The size of the monocrystalline cell is 52×52 mm² or 31x31mm². Sensor Box: It is an UV protected aluminum box. The sensor box has two opening access and the mounting holes on its sides are for easy site installation. There are three options for IP Class; IP54, IP65 and IP68. For ventilation purpose, there are 1mm holes at bottom side of the box, or a ventilation plug on its side. Connectors: Each plastic connector which is UV protected has a different pin number which prevents any connection confusion during site installation. The connection cables are delivered as 1,5m or 3m lengths. SEVEN irradiance sensor is designed as plug & run device and end user friendly operation. Details of SEVEN Irradiance sensor The irradiance sensor or PV pyranometer is a photovoltaic sensor used to measure the amount of solar energy in natural light and is particularly used in meteorology. It measures the power of total solar radiation in watts per square meter (W/m²). The solar irradiance sensor is a simple economical solution to monitor the performance of the solar system at any time. Entirely manufactured as a cell for the PV system and equipped with a temperature compensation system, the irradiance sensor measures precisely and reliably the energy expected to be produced by the system. Seven Irradiance Sensor With 4-20mA Output

Irradiance Sensor With 4-20mA Output This Irradiance Sensor is used to measure the radiation flux density of Solar PV Plants having an 4-20mA Input Datalogger. Besides Irradiance, it includes also an Internal cell Temperature Sensor. It is supplied along with Mounting Bracket and Cable. WORKING PRINCIPLES A silicon solar cell can be used as an irradiance sensor, because the short-circuit current is proportional to irradiance. Our sensors are built out of a monocrystalline solar cell connected to a shunt. Due to the low resistance of the shunt the cell operates next to short circuit. The temperature coefficient of the short-circuit current creates a small error. The compensation is realized by using a temperature sensor laminated to the rear side of the solar cell. The measuring signals of short- circuit current of the cell and the resistance value of the temperature sensor are measured by a micro controller. The calculated values of irradiance and temperature given onto a 4-20mA protocol. The electronic circuit is optimized for low power consumption. SEVEN’s Analog Irradiance Sensor In general, analog sensors produce a continuous output signal or voltage that is usually proportional to the measured quantity. Physical quantities such as temperature, velocity, pressure, displacement, strain, etc. are all analog quantities because they tend to be continuous in nature. The SEVEN Irradiance Sensor, with 4-20mA output, is a weatherproof junction box made of UV-resistant materials. It is made from a monocrystalline solar cell connected to a high-precision shunt. It contains an analog output which is used to measure the radiation value in solar power plants by plugging into analog input dataloggers. The 4-20mA irradiance sensor is mounted in such a way that it receives solar radiation straight from the sun. It must therefore be aligned with the photovoltaic panels in order to obtain the same measurements. The height at which the photovoltaic pyranometer is mounted is not critical for the accuracy of the measurement. SEVEN sensor Solutions provides an irradiance sensor with mounting brackets on both sides, so that it can be flexibly mounted on the solar panel, no matter where it is located.

Seven Dual Orientations Irradiance Sensor

Dual Orientations Irradiance Sensor This Irradiance Sensor Model’s designation is 3S-2IS. It is specially developed to calculate the Performance Ratio (PR) for the dual orientation PV plants, as it calculates the average irradiance value as per the number of panels in each direction. Installation directions of panels in PV power plants and the number of panels in these directions may be different. The user will be able to set the number of panels in each orientation for the correct calculations. 3S-2IS special design allows simultaneous connection of two Irradiance Sensors, two Module Temperature Sensors, an Ambient Temperature Sensor, and a Wind Speed Sensor. The number of panels in both directions, to which the sensors are connected, is entered into the electronic card via 3S-2IS Configuration Interface. The total effective irradiance and total effective module temperature can be calculated and communicated to the datalogger via Modbus RTU protocol. By using these values, the accurate Performance Ratio can be calculated in the monitoring systems.

Low-Cost Irradiance Sensor The Low-Cost Irradiance Sensor is used to measures the irradiance value for residential and rooftop applications or small-scale projects. Ultrasonic Anemometer It is a two-axis static ultrasonic anemometer used for accurate measurements of Wind Speed and Direction in all environmental conditions. It is Capable of measuring wind speed up to 85 m/s without giving up. Heating option is available, for quick defrosting. A model with anodized aluminum alloy case with anti-corrosion coating is available. This feature makes it possible to be used the instrument even in particularly aggressive environments. The anemometer meets the requirements of MIL-STD-810G Method 509.6 (salt spray corrosion test). Automatic Soiling Sensor SEVEN Soiling Sensor is designed to measure the loss of energy production due to soiling caused by environmentalfactors on photovoltaic panels. The Soiling sensor, which is suitable for commercial, utility, industrial and rooftop projects,notifies the user of production losses due to soiling. If soiling ratio read from the sensor is 10%, it means that there is10% energy loss in the facility. DESCRIPTION SEVEN Soiling Sensor calculates the soiling rate of the PV system by comparing the irradiance values received fromtwo clean and dirty irradiance sensors. While the dirty irradiance sensor in the system is exposed to soiling in the sameway as the panels, the clean irradiance sensor is automatically cleaned every day. Monitoring systems give the user theenergy loss by comparing the two irradiance values according to the data received from the cleaned and dirty irradiance sensors. The system consumes approx. 100 mililiter water for single run for 2,5 meters water hose length. The water tank is able to serve 400 days (13.3 months). Consult SEVEN if the water hose longer than 2,5 meters.

Seven Snow Sensor

Snow Sensor SEVEN Snow Sensor is designed to measure the loss in energy production caused by snowfall on photovoltaic modules. Suitable for both ground and rooftop projects, the snow sensor notifies the user of production losses due to snowfall. If the snow ratio read from the sensor is 10%, it means that there is 10% energy loss in the facility. Snow Ratio = Energy Loss The SEVEN Snow Sensor calculates the snow ratio of the PV plant by comparing the irradiance data received from two reference cells, with and without snow. The SEVEN Snow Sensor offers a special solution for Photovoltaic projects with Solar Tracker systems. By analyzing irradiance data from the snow and snow-free reference cells, the Snow Sensor calculates snow ratio and communicates it with the Tracker control center to adjust the modules positions based on the snow accumulation, thereby saves energy by avoiding unnecessary system operation.
